Hi everyone,
There is such a vast interest in
new technological tools to help students succeed in learning. It's amazing how accessible
and useful these tools can be.
I have chosen three blogs to follow on a weekly basis.
The first one called :Reading
By Example. In this blog the writer- Matt
Renwick, an elementary school principal in Wisconsin, suggests
new iPad Apps for demonstrating learning for students. We can take advantage of
the fact that iPad is so attractive to young learners (and adults)
The second one called: Class Tech Integrate. In this blog the writer - elementary school educator Mickey McFetridge,
writes about how to use YouTube movies in the classroom in a useful way. He suggests
adding comments to the movie in the middle. This way there is a much more
effective learning.
The third one called: Cool Cat Teacher by the teacher Vicki Davis. She gives tips for helping students to be great students.
below is one of Vicki's tips:

Hi, Ronit. I enjoyed reading this post. I have seen videos on YouTube that people embedded comments into, but had no idea how they did that. The Class Tech Integrate post you reference tells me how! That could be a useful tool in the classroom. I also liked the idea of finding apps for iPads for teaching, though as far as I know, Israeli schools don't provide these for students. But perhaps that will be funded someday, and we should certainly know what is available to supplement our teaching when that day finally comes!
השבמחקI find Vicki's tip so accurate. I often write out notes when I'm trying to study for a text or remember important information, but by reorganizing it systematically this turns out to be much more effective. I hope that schools are able to invest more in technological devices in the near future as there seems to be so much potential out there. (Various devices were shown in the video that Avrahm posted in moodle m that I had never heard of)
השבמחקFollowing Jennifer, I looked at the Class TEch Integrate site and learned about flipped classrooms. The term was new to me. Currently I teach kids with learning disabilities, and I don't foresee being able to really stop the hand-holding any time soon. Still, maybe some time in the future I'll teach kids who can work independently. Perhaps I will be able to use inserting text into youtube videos with my students, turning the videos into a more interactive learning experience.
